A Sea-Side Break

On the first week of September (last week of the summer hols), me and my brothers were lucky enough to have a surprise sea-side break, organised by my parents a couple of months ago. It was very exciting that my parents treated us to a gorgeous lodge with sea views in lovely Plymouth, the city my mum came from. We had a relaxing 5 days, I barely used the Wi-Fi, it was just nice to have a break, from everything! Here are a few photos from the holiday and I'll try and summarise each day for you.

After a long 4 hour journey, we settled down in our luxury lodge and went down to the private beach just a couple of minutes walk down the valley from the lodge. It was so relaxing and I took a few artsy photos with my newly purchased Quay sunglasses!

On day 2, we had a long ramble down to Plymouth harbour, strolling over the high cliffs with an amazing view of the city. On the way back we passed a couple of little villages with beautiful lakes and gardens.

Day 3 was undoubtably the most active day. We went go-karting, a sport I secretly enjoy and have got quite good at to be honest! At this amazing leisure facility called Andrenline Quarry (the place they filmed the most recent Walkers advert), me and my dad got the chance to basically jump off a cliff and zip-wire down the valley which was something I have always wanted to do. We then got to swim in the fresh water resivour below the zip-wire where me and my brothers had a lot of fun jumping into the water from the jetti! And finally to finish the day we went to the famous sea-side town of Looe in Cornwall and had fish and chips for dinner. Also we were lucky enough to spontaneously get a boat ride round Looe Island and see the Cornish seals, that was probably the highlight of the week!

On day 4, we were fortunate enough to go onto the famous Dartmoor and ride horses. I used to ride when I was younger but gave it up and after going on a horse again, I regret quitting! Afterwards, we had another nice walk until we got lost on Dartmoor with the fog coming in which was pretty dramatic! We also had a lot of fun playing pooh sticks over the bridge and finally to finish the day we went into a lovely pub back in Plymouth.

On Friday morning, our final full day, we went back to the private beach and got the wetsuits out and swam in the sea, something I have never done in the UK. After having a shower we went into Plymouth city centre, did a bit of shopping and slightly fell in love with the city! When we got back we had a relaxing time in the pool which was basically private and stroked some gorgeous tame chickens, an animal I now adore!

I hope you enjoyed my little summery of my trip to Plymouth, it was a lovely place and I would highly recommend visiting!

What's in my school bag?

Yes I know it's been a little while, maybe even a month but I'm back and hopefully filling you in with my life again on my blog. I had a little break over the summer including a surprise trip to beautiful Plymouth in Devon (blog post coming soon) and I was surprisingly busy but now I'm back and ready to write (or type...). I have been posting weekly on my YouTube channel though so I'm not slacking off completely!

I thought I would mention the video I uploaded today which is 'What is in my school bag?' : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THT_9VbrV9g. I have a little chat with you about school and upcoming autumnal videos as well as what's in my school bag (of course!). So have a click on the link if that sort of video would interest you. Next week a HUGE autumn clothing and beauty haul will be uploaded so keep you eyes peeled for that!

If your at school, I hope you got through your first day and week and good luck for the rest of the year!

Thoughts And Reactions I Had Watching The PLL Summer Finale ♡

The Pretty Little Liars summer finale aired in the US on Tuesday night the 11th August (the biggest night in television in my opinion). After five years, and six seasons, we were finally about to find out who A is and all the questions the PLL Army (myself included) theorised day after day! My friends and I celebrated the show with a PLL themed party sleepover, and woke up early the next morning to watch the episode on Netflix. As I didn't do a reaction video on my YouTube channel (something I tried but my friends wouldn't let me!) I thought I would write down every single thought that came into my head whilst watching it. So for my PLL allies out there, I hope you can relate to this and we can all have a laugh together!

Disneyland Paris 2015 ♡

Hey guys, I thought today I would share with you my experience at Disneyland Paris, a magical place I arrived back from a week ago. Me and my family were there from Tuesday till Saturday and stayed in a Disney hotel meaning we were able to get into the park 2 hours earlier before normal time (a benefit we did a lot!) I thought I would share a few pictures from our stay at the park and I would highly recommend visiting, even if it is just for a day! The whole atmosphere of the 2 parks (Disneyland Park & The Studios) and the Disney Village is amazing with a magical ambiance to the place. You don't know what your waiting for until you arrive.

We accomplished every single ride in the park in 5 days however (with a squish) you could manage everything in 3 days! My favourites rides were the thrilling, loop the loop crazy rides (I love roller coasters). Ones I would recommend include; The Rock n' Roller-coaster (Areosmith), The Tower of Terror and Space Mountain (which re-opened luckily on our final day!)

So I hope you enjoy the photos and have a great holiday if you are going anywhere!

Revolution Mermaid Palette ♡

Recently, I was fortunate to be sent Revolutions new 'Mermaids Forever' palette, a new addition to the brands growing collection of well known palettes, for the summer. First of all for these 32 colours look gorgeous next to each other and for only £8, it's a must to try. The pigmentation of the shades is pretty good for such a budget brand - especially the darker ones (so great for liner) but I love the lighter ones for a nice sheer splash of colour on the lids.

I also love the names of each colour, they aren't just numbers like how some cheaper brands prefer to do it. My favourites include 'enchant' (a sheer pink shimmer) 'song' (a gorgeous purple shade for an easy all over the lid look) 'kingdom' (a subtle dark crease colour) and 'bay' (a common peach highlight shade). My only concern with the colours is that there are no matte shades. The palette includes shimmers, glitters, and even metallics but no solid colours. I guess the colours reflect the 'mermaid' palette but personally 2 or 3 mattes would be nice!

Also, the longevity isn't great. Half way through the day I saw the colours fading and creasing - even with a primer however I think the trick is to apply the colour lightly on rather than packing the eyeshadow onto the lid like you may usually do.

All in all, for the price of this palette I think it is totally worth it and as a drugstore product I would give this a 7/10!

I made a video showing you 3 easy looks you could do for summer with this palette on my YouTube channel - a natural look, a night look and an out-going colourful look. If your interested you can check it out here: https://youtu.be/tSQUZvR97yo

Define yourself ♡

"Happiness and confidence are the prettiest things you can wear." - Taylor Swift

This is week I thought I would talk about something a little different. I feel very passionate towards self-confidence so I decided to create a post purely towards it. This is going to be a long one.

In society, there is a vast misconception that teenage girls and women have to wear makeup to be feminine. In reality, the majority of females feel they need to wear makeup to cover insecurities; to make themselves feel better; to 'fit in'.

Firstly, many social pressures are derived from the internet; a tool which has manipulated females into thinking celebrities are the definition of 'perfection', encouraging young girls to feel the need to photoshop and digitally enhance themselves. Rather offensively, brands are brazenly open about  digitally shrinking women’s waists, sliming down their upper arms and enhancing inner thighs creating the much desired 'thigh gap'. Whilst it’s ridiculous that companies even feel the need to transform already beautiful female bodies, the images are having a detrimental effect on young girls.

Zoë Sugg (Zoella) is one young woman who is going some way to help young girls overcome their insecurities. Her online video blogs include: makeup looks and tips; her routine and day to day life; pitching to her viewers that not everyone has a 'perfect' moment every day of their life. By taking some time, you can make yourself more confident, making the internet work for you rather than you working for it.

Social media has exploded over the last decade but with this has come even more exposure of how we should look. Adding to that is the fear of judgement from people we don't even know. Social media has further exposed us to photoshop, and unrealistic expectations. Take the example of Jennifer Lawrence who has become famous not just for her acting but also her refusal to lose weight from her already healthy body. Following her photoshoot for Dior's new handbag campaign this year, she said: "That doesn't look like me at all... of course it's Photoshop, people don't look like that." From a beautiful woman this is a powerful message that it is okay to eat, it is okay to not be 'perfect', it is okay to just be you!

One of the worrying associated problems with this pressure is the rising number of mental-health problems among young girls linked to the representation of women in the media. UK mental-health charity 'Mind' support people of all ages with eating disorders, depression and anxiety. They educate young people on the causes, symptoms and consequences on their problems -  bolding stating: "We won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect." Such support is necessary if these issues are going to be addressed with 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year and 4.7 in 100 people with anxiety/depression.

Personally, I have learned to love my skin. I use makeup for a fun and imaginative outlet to enhance features that I already have; to use it to experiment and a means of expression to show my creativity, not to hide myself. However, you should feel comfortable and content with your skin underneath. There can be spots, dry patches, redness, acne, pores, oiliness, imperfections and flaws: your skin is a canvas but you are the portrait.

Don't apologise for your skin, feel proud that this is YOU!

I leave you with this message: remember that nobody is perfect and that insecurities are shared. It's easy to forget in a modern society with the ability to nip, tuck and enhance at the click of a button, that nobody is pristine or perfect; everyone is different and that's the magic!

Remember, YOU are beautiful!

Define yourself, don't let others define you.

The Summer Boho Way ♡

Recently, I have been loving this edging 'hipster' yet cool cute and chic look (wow, lots of style adverbs - but you get the idea!) All these fashion items are new in (apart from the shoes) and should be still avaible and I think they are all a fab addition to your summer/holiday wardrobe!

Starting with my hat, I am obsessed with hats at the moment as I think they really suit my face shape. This one is a fedora style from Dorthy Perkins at the price of £10; loads of other shops and brands do them so shop around for the colour and style you want!

My top is from Primark and featured that in a haul video on my channel (youtube.com/laurasobsession29) for only £5. I love the nautical strips on this which matches the current summer trend is 'off the shoulder' tops and dresses however I might have got this in a size too small so it tends to slip of my shoulders so I lay it on my shoulders instead but if you are looking for this style, New Look stock some fab ones!

I am loving these shorts from Forever 21 for £13. They are a light 'washed out' blue denim with rips on the front. I paired them with this big, wide black belt with a silver buckle from Primark (£2!) and I think with quite a simple look like this, I find this just adds a touch of BOOM.

And finally my shoes are a last summer purchase from River Island (£30) I wore them too death last summer and will do so again. Simple, black, gladiator straps; they go with everything! A fab alternative to the usual sandles and you can even wear them with socks. SAY WHAT!

I hope you enjoyed this little OOTD/Summer Additions to my wardrobe! Tell me in the comments what has been attracting you in the stores recently and what style you are?
